Heya, I'm Tulf; I've been into the Nasuverse in general for a few years now - although I'm typically more of a Tsukihime junkie, my interest in Fate has been rekindled a bit with Grand Order's plethora of new Servants; though many are hit-and-miss. I'm just happy to see a Fate site that's taking itself a bit less seriously, as interesting as the Grail War generally is.
While my first profile's just about done, I'd like to ask a few questions about the matter of the manifested Heroic Spirits in the setting and particularly their families - in the introduction, it's noted that they grow up in relatively normal households, but I'd like to hear a bit more. Are Servant families 'selected' or otherwise premeditated, or are Servant children just chance events? If they are premeditated; is there some system to how they're nominated, or which Servant is, err, 'summoned'?

The answer is yes it is pretty much a random that heroic spirits are reincarnated because of grail weirdness. Though the grail is known for silly things like for example one of the Emiya/Saber twins is the reincarnation of Mordred. But yes it is indeed random do your character could be born from the richest family around or the poorest there and you can even collaborate for them to be related to each other. I hope this makes sense!
