You are probably wondering if servants are people now with their own prana source that replenishes on their own why are servant and master relationships needed? The answer is that this relationship is not necessary but there are many benefits on top of only servant and master pairs are recorded in the battles. The most useful abilities is to be able to share prana, for Servants less prana consumption on non abilities and faster prana recovery. For Masters for all spells that require direct line of sight or contact can work on their servant regardless how far away they are.
Servants require at least one unit of prana for almost every normal attack but with a contract with a Master normal attacks become half the mana consumption. So instead two normal attacks will consume 1 unit of prana. Heroic Spirits are known to recover prana slower than the average human it takes around half a day to recover about half of the prana they consumed. With the contract prana replenishment is almost instantaneous as long as they rest after consuming prana. Finally, prana can also be shared if the master has 20 units of prana and the servant 100 then that is 120 units of prana they can share between them if they chose to.
On the Master's side many spells may require direct contact with the subject or the very least a direct line of sight. Through the contract the servant pretty much almost becomes an extension of the Master's senses. For example for a healing spell maybe our mage requires direct contact with the subject to heal them, with the contract it is considered direct contact and can heal the servant even if they are quite a far distance away.
